Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta 2014
We may have had a few heavy downpours over the last few days but when it has broken out from a curtain of clouds the sun has certainly shone. The crowds have poured into the town to see the crews preparing their magnificent ships for the Tall Ships Regatta 2014. For many the excitement of an opportunity to see beyond the gets of the historic docks has been an additional bonus.
All too soon Sunday will be upon us and the final day of celebrations as we see the sails raised and the regatta begin. But where will be the best place to see the splendour?
If the weather is fine of course any one of our beautiful beach’s, Castle Beach, Gyllyngvase, or; Swanpool will offer a perfect vantage point along with their cafe’s boasting tasty menu’s and extensive choice of ice-creams. If you want to get a closer look then anywhere along the headland around Pendennis point and perhaps the perfect backdrop would be created with a visit to the castle. Please be aware the headland will get very busy and we strongly advise you walk up and not drive.
Wherever you choose to watch the start of this spectacular regatta cast your imagination to a time when this sight would have been common place, when Falmouth was a leading communications hub second to London, and news and information was carried to and from the port by Packet Ships.
Where will you watch?
