Three Alternative Ways to Experience Falmouth…….On the Water
For many years locals and visitors have enjoyed and continue to enjoy the many different water tours provided by our ferry cruises based at Prince of Wales pier & Custom House Quay. Not only do these tours offer you great sightseeing opportunities but an alternative way to travel for your shopping. Did you also know that alongside these wonderful ferry cruises there are other ways to see the water?
Here are three more ways to explore the 3rd largest natural harbour in the world who knows what you may discover on your journey.
Falmouth Boat Hire –No Experience
An opportunity to hire a self drive boat for up to 8 people and with no experience necessary because the wonderful people at Falmouth Boat Hire will give you a crash course, (not literally a crash course but you know what we mean). Fully equipped with all your safety gear and a tank of fuel you can travel the harbour and estuaries at your leisure. Steer your boat along the River Fal, observe the busy harbour and maybe catch a glimpse of a seal or certainly a heron or two.
There are several natural creeks to explore and landing zones so you can sit and enjoy a picnic. You may want to visit St Mawes, stop for a cream tea at Smugglers Cottage or take a wander through the beautiful Trelissick Gardens.
Cornish Blue Sailing – Experienced
For the more experienced sailor you can hire one of 19 Shrimpers at the Cornish Blue based at Falmouth Mariner. You will need to provide evidence of your sailing experience and if you wish to hire the Crabber 26 you will need to have the RYA Day Skipper or ICC qualification.
Visit Falmouth would love to hear your stories of the water. Please leave a comment or share some pics on our Visit Falmouth Facebook page or on Twitter @VisitFalmouth.
